Alexander Tevzadze has been the Rector of Kutaisi International University (KIU) in Georgia since 2019. He graduated from the Department of Physics at Tbilisi State University and earned his Ph.D. from the KU Leuven in Belgium in 2006. Tevzadze’s academic and administrative career is extensive. His postdoctoral research was conducted at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Torino in Italy and the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory in Georgia. He was an Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University, where he also held various administrative positions, and served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in the USA. Tevzadze served as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture of Georgia, focusing on higher education and science. He is a member of various national and international advisory committees on education and science and serves as an expert and referee for various research foundations and scientific journals. His research interests lie in theoretical and numerical astrophysics. He is a fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications in the UK.
